Celebrating 100 Years!

Take your family away to a log cabin by the lake at the edge of the wilderness. Or maybe to a little cottage made of fieldstone with a perfect view of the Minnesota sunset. Camp Van Vac has 25 rustic cabins on the shore of Burntside Lake in the Superior National Forest at the doorstep of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area.

Summer trails are bordered with fern and blueberries. Lucky travelers may spot moose, bear, and the elusive wolf in a drive up the Echo Trail. Come in June for the fields of purple lupine and orange hawkweed. In the fall when children are back in school you can find a week or a weekend of solitude among bright leaves and crisp, sunny days.

Employment

Work and Enjoy the Summer Too

I'm always looking for good summer help: Contact me for Saturday work if you're good-natured, show up on time and clean cabins like a dynamo. Part-time weekday crew can build muscles hauling wood and bailing boats, and still enjoy plenty of time off. If you can use a chain saw, are kind to the guests, and make us laugh, so much the better.

Contact me. I'm looking for:

Part-time week day staff: The average work week totals 20-30 hours. There's always the possibility of more or fewer hours as agreed upon by you and me.

Saturday staff: Will commute to work and earn $20 an hour on Saturdays. Hours are from 8 a.m. to 2-4 p.m. on Saturdays mid-June through mid-August. Additional hours may be available during the week, and early and late in the season.

We like to: Teach you how to do the job, build trust, muscles, and confidence in our staff. Swimming in Burntside Lake is delicious. You can use our canoes and boats on Sunday or afternoons when you're not working. In return we ask you to do your very best for our guests.

Read our brochure: Camp Van Vac is a friendly, rustic, woodsy resort just 10 minutes from Ely on Burntside Lake. You might like it here.

Fill out an application: Call me at 218-365-3782 and we'll talk. If the Saturday or week day schedules don't quite fit your needs, but you're interested in working at Camp Van Vac, give me a call anyhow. Let's see if other arrangements can be made.

Thanks,

Nancy jo Tubbs, Camp Van Vac Owner
